Был котенок - станет рысь
I hated finance in school. Hated!
I almost failed it.
But now as I am reading through discussions and articles, I am wracking my mind to recall the concepts behind options and derivatives - and I am still very fuzzy. Those things were always too fuzzy and abstract for me: I get excited about technologies and markets, not contracts that exist in electronic world only and whose value is found on statistical models.
They say many people don't leave in the real world, i.e. gamers etc., and that's supposedly bad. But how the hell are derivatives real??
I am lucky. Or determined? I am ignorant about a great many things in the world. But I have somehow managed to get access to some of the brightest minds imaginable.
So in times like these I login to our little secret online salon and read what those mind have to say or link to.
It's not just the sub-prime mortgages, people.
It's those little thingies that got completely out of hand in the unregulated financial markets:

"Instruments of mass financial destruction" indeed...
